In this single day course, Ana will provide demonstration and tutorial in the art of faceting, the decorative removal of clay from the outside of wheel-thrown forms.

Course Details

Ana has been vigorously pursuing faceting in her own practice for the last 2 years, with some fantastic results, complimented with slips, ash-glazes and firing in wood-salt kilns.

The studio invites a maximum of 8 students for this course. Each participant will enjoy unlimited access to a power wheel for the full duration. These are a selection of different models; Rayefco, Alsager and Shimpo.

It will be expected that students attending this course will already have some experience in wheel throwing. The course will obviously cater for students at different levels of capability. However, applications are welcome only from students who are confidently already able to centre and to comfortably lift-up 2 or more pounds of clay into an upright shape.

This course is specifically designed to advance skill base and ideas. However a selection of your best pots from the day can be bisque fired at a cost of 1.50/lb, and a maximum of your favourite 2 pots gloss-fired with a reduction stoneware glaze at a cost of 2.50/lb.

Tuition hours for the day are 9.30am - 5pm. Morning and afternoon refreshments are provided within the course fee, but please bring along your own lunchtime provision.

Cost: 65.00
