This book documents the work of five potters whose work and homes have
been made in Devon. The work is a collaboration with fire and flame and
a celebration of their very personal relationship with the Devon
landscape and a poignant dialogue between abundant natural materials
and a unique sense of place. The 5 Devon potters are:
All have international reputations and have exhibited
widely over the last twenty-year period, with work now in numerous
private and public collections.
Peter Davies is a well-known art critic and author on British
art. He is a contirbutor to "The Independent", "The Art Book" and other
newspapers and journals. His previous books include 'St Ives Revisited', 'Arthur Ballard', 'After Trewyn; and 'Bratby'.
Chris Chapman's photography is widely recognised and is represented in
many collections, including those of the Victoria and Albert Museum in
London and the International Centre of Photography in New York His
major body of work comprising a twenty five year archive depicting the
culture and character of Dartmoor is entitled Wild Goose and Riddon: The Dartmoor photographs of Chris Chapman.
