I explore a fascination with aerodynamics and architecture via the making of hand-built abstract forms of convex, concave and flat planes of clay. Every stage of production is an improvised experiment in a quest to produce original and balanced compositions that highlight and intensify the beauty of light and shadow on surface.
Hand/slab building, slip casting, shape designing, detailed technical drawing, plaster modelling by hand (sledging/profiling, handles, spouts, sprig moulding/relief modelling), drop-out and multi-part plaster mould making, lathe and bench whirler turning. All these skills are taught on my master classes.
