Artists Statement
I was born and grew up in Madrid, and came to London in 1997. I studied a fine art degree in ceramics at Camberwell University of the Arts until 2007, since then I have had solo and group shows primarily in British galleries and also collaborated in group exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Latvia, Spain and Turkey. Over the years I have been producing a body of work that has developed a thematic dialogue concerning the well documented problematic relationship between humans and nature in particular in Western culture. My work intends to raise questions concerning humanity's role within the natural world, whilst also aiming to instil a sense of wonder, creating a dialogue about these issues rather than pushing any particular solution. The pieces have a dreamlike quality influenced in particular by the 20th century Surrealist movement and the earlier European Romantic tradition, but open to other influences, both European and non European, for example, early religious artefacts, folk art and Mexican devotional art. The works aim to take the viewer on a journey into a world where the fusion of the natural and the human sometimes seems to be in harmony and respect, and other times appears to be wilder and darker.

Porcelain Sculpture Technical Information
I work in both stoneware and porcelain, and fire the work to 1260ºC in oxidation, occasional adding enamels and lustre firings on selected pieces. A combination of casting and hand-building techniques using porcelain are characteristic of my work. I decorate my pieces spraying coloured slips, underglazes and/or stains.I make my glazes from recipes acquired and worked on over the years, exploring the potential of different materials and techniques the pieces become vivid and unique images which call into question many of our preconceptions about porcelain, craft and even beauty.
