Wheel thrown oxidised porcelain. mainly black and white.
I throw a basic shape then turn the life out of the poor pot and finally cut it in an attempt at resuscitation, the attrition rate is high but not as high as it used to be.
I also love making bowls and enjoy decorating them with sgrafitto images of dancers, medieval grotesques and pictures evoking old memories.
Electric Kiln 1240-60°ish. Mostly single firing.
1998-2001 Kent institute of Art and Design. Ceramics B.A(Hons)
Nurse, wife, mother, playgroup worker, classroom assistant, student, other things I've forgotten, ceramic person.
2001-2012ish I was very lucky to work from the Old Reed Bed Studios during this time thanks to my great friend and inspiration Jean Lowe, unfortunately life overtook us all and that period has passed and we've all had to move on. Jean is now living and making in Bath.
So now I work from my beautiful garage at home. I have recently found a studio in Chatham(west end studio's) where, although i can't do any clay work, I can have a good play at being arty, paper and paint, and enjoy some artistic company. It may not be clay but hopefully everything I do feeds into everything I do.
